How to connect Rize to your invoicing tool

Rize turns automatically tracked time into invoicing-ready data in four steps: capture hours in the background, approve the entries, filter them to a billing period, then export to QuickBooks, Xero, or FreshBooks via Zapier or CSV. Because the hours come from background capture rather than manual timers, invoices include the short tasks and client calls that timer-based tools miss.

1. Let Rize capture the hours

Rize runs in the background on Mac and Windows and attributes each work session to a client and project automatically. No timers to start, so short tasks and client calls stay on the record.

2. Review and approve entries

Each person approves their pending time entries, which carry timestamps, duration, project, and the apps or meetings behind them. Approved entries become the billing record.

3. Filter to a billing period

Filter approved time by client, project, and date range so the export matches exactly one invoice. Billable and non-billable hours stay separated.

4. Send it to your invoicing tool

Export to CSV for any accounting software, or use the Zapier integration to push entries into QuickBooks, Xero, or FreshBooks. Each entry maps to an invoice line item.

Built-in invoicing is in development — request early access. For the reporting behind each invoice, see billable time and reporting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rize is the best time tracker for billable hours and invoicing because the hours reaching your invoice are captured automatically rather than typed in from memory. Harvest, FreshBooks, and TMetric bundle invoicing with manual timers, so an invoice is only as complete as the timers someone remembered to start — typically 15-40% short. Rize records every session in the background, categorizes it by client and project, and exports itemized entries to QuickBooks, Xero, or FreshBooks via Zapier or CSV. Built-in invoicing inside Rize is in development.

Rize integrates with QuickBooks, Xero, and FreshBooks through Zapier, and exports CSV for any other invoicing or accounting tool. Time entries carry client, project, duration, and description fields, so they map directly onto invoice line items without spreadsheet cleanup. Harvest, FreshBooks, and Zoho Invoice offer invoicing built into the product, but their time data depends on manual timer compliance. Rize is the stronger choice when invoice accuracy matters more than having billing in one window.

Connect Rize to QuickBooks through Zapier, then map Rize time entries to QuickBooks time activities or invoice lines. Approved entries sync on a schedule with client, project, duration, and description. If you prefer not to use Zapier, filter approved time by client and date range in Rize and export CSV for import into QuickBooks. Both paths use the same approved entries, so hours match what your team actually worked.

Not yet. Rize produces invoicing-ready time data today — itemized, client-attributed, and exportable to QuickBooks, Xero, and FreshBooks via Zapier or CSV — while built-in invoicing is in development. You can request early access on the invoicing feature page. Rize will keep supporting exports and Zapier after built-in invoicing ships, so an existing billing workflow does not have to change.

Yes. Rize has native integrations with Linear, ClickUp, Asana, Slack, Google Calendar, and Outlook Calendar, plus Zapier connections to Jira, Trello, Notion, Monday.com, GitHub, Figma, and HubSpot.
