Rize is a macOS and Windows app that automatically captures time spent on your desktop's focused window. For websites, it will connect and request the current url to help categorize any time spent in browsers.

For meetings, Rize allows you to integrate your Google Calendar to capture time in meetings even if your focused window is not the video call. This is helpful if you are presenting or multi-tasking.

Rize offers a free 7-day trial with full feature access. After the trial, individual plans start at $9.99/month (Basic, billed annually) or $12.99/month billed monthly. There is no permanently free tier, but you can export all your data at any time.

Monthly billing offers the most flexibility, while annual billing lowers the monthly equivalent. Annual billing saves up to 25% on Team plans and up to 23% on individual plans. Quarterly billing is also available at a smaller discount, and you can switch billing periods at any time from your account settings.

Rize is not employee monitoring. It does not record screens, log keystrokes, or track mouse movement, and by default it captures metadata only — app names, URLs, and window titles — to categorize where time goes. Screen content is read only if you opt into Screen Text and grant it per person, and even then only that person can read what it captured. Team members review and approve their own time data before managers see it.

Yes. Rize has dedicated team and enterprise plans with manager dashboards, per-client and per-project time breakdowns, billable hour tracking, profitability reporting, and CSV/PDF export. Agencies use Rize to track billable hours automatically across clients without requiring anyone to start a timer.

Rize is currently available for macOS (Mojave 10.14.6 or later) and Windows (Windows 10 or later). Support for Linux will be coming soon.

On macOS, Rize supports all major browsers including Google Chrome, Safari, Brave Browser, Microsoft Edge, Arc, SigmaOS, Mighty and many more.

Rize tracks time spent on unsupported browsers, but is unable to categorize any activity by URL within the browser.

Your data is hosted on Amazon Web Services, protected both physically and electronically. Your data is only accessible through your personal password-protected account, and any data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Our database generates backups of our data at least twice a day for redundancy.
