Does Rize take screenshots?
No. Rize only tracks metadata: app name, window title, URL, and timestamps. It never captures screenshots, keystrokes, or window contents.
What platforms does Rize support?
Rize is available for macOS and Windows. Browser extensions are available for Chrome and Firefox to improve tab tracking accuracy.
Does Rize work with multiple monitors?
Yes. Rize tracks only the currently active (focused) window, regardless of how many monitors you use.
Can I use Rize on multiple computers?
Yes. Rize tracks simultaneously on multiple machines without double-counting. Each device reports its own activity.
How do I make Rize more accurate?
The fastest ways to improve accuracy:
- Create clients, projects, and tasks with clear names
- Add keywords to projects and tasks
- Connect your task tracker (ClickUp, Linear, or Asana)
- Review entries daily and correct mistakes
- Create tracking rules for recurring patterns
- Adjust AI confidence threshold in Settings
Why is tracking not working?
Check these common issues:
- Is the power icon showing "Active" in your dashboard?
- Are browser extensions installed for Chrome/Firefox?
- On macOS: check System Settings > Privacy & Security for Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions
- Is your Automatic Tracking Schedule configured correctly?
Can I add time entries manually?
Yes. Click the "+" button on your Home tab to create a manual entry with a custom start time, end time, and tags.
How is Focus Time calculated?
Rize measures focus time using a 75% threshold within 15-minute windows. If you spend at least 75% of a 15-minute block in focused work (based on your Focus categories), that block counts as focus time.
