Reviewing Time Entries

How to review, approve, edit, and correct your AI-generated time entries.

Open your time entries in Rize.

The Review Panel

Click any time entry on your calendar to open the review panel on the right side. The panel shows:

  • Description -- AI-generated summary of what you worked on
  • Tag suggestions -- recommended client, project, and task assignments
  • Context tabs -- apps, websites, event timeline, and activity details
  • Actions -- approve, edit, merge, split, or regenerate suggestions

Daily Review Workflow

The fastest path to accurate time data:

  1. Open your dashboard at the end of each day
  2. Review entries in your inbox (entries that need attention)
  3. Approve correct suggestions with one click
  4. Correct any wrong tags -- this teaches Rize for next time
  5. Merge or split entries as needed

Aim for a daily review habit. Teams that review daily get significantly better tagging accuracy than those who batch-review weekly.

Editing Time Entries

You can edit any time entry:

  • Change the description
  • Reassign client, project, or task
  • Adjust start and end times
  • Add notes for extra context

Merging and Splitting

  • Merge -- combine two adjacent entries into one (useful when context switches were too frequent)
  • Split -- divide a long entry into smaller segments (useful when you worked on multiple things)

Entry Sources

Every time entry shows its source label:

  • AI -- generated automatically by Rize
  • AI Edited -- AI-generated but manually corrected
  • User -- created manually by you or your admin

Admin Review

Team admins can create, edit, and delete time entries for any team member from the admin view. All admin-modified entries are clearly labeled so the team member knows what changed.

Work Hours Calculation

Work Hours are calculated from your approved time entries by default. Only entries you have reviewed and approved count toward your Work Hours metric. Break time is excluded.

You can switch to the previous calculation method (based on work categories) in Settings > Time Entries > Work Hours Calculation.
